Our services range from reviewing show bibles and RFP responses to creating educational frameworks to guide the development process. We provide notes on episode premises, outlines, and draft scripts. For scripts, we suggest language and tactics that support comprehension and help move audiences toward deeper understanding.

Our goal is to ensure that science content is accurate, aligns with learning objectives, and is developmentally appropriate. We love collaborating on media that engage diverse audiences and is informative and fun!

Sara Poirier, MSc.

Children’s Media Science & Education Consultant
Founder, Spark Strategic Science Communication

For two decades, Sara Poirier has applied her expertise in physics, astronomy, and climate change communication in the creation of educational content for kids and families.

Sara earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Astrophysics from the University of Toronto, and a graduate certificate in Space Studies from the International Space University. After working at the Ontario Science Center as an exhibit and program developer, she continued her studies at the University of Edinburgh in Science Communication and Public Engagement. Her graduate work focused on climate change communication in children’s media. The results of Sara’s Master’s thesis were published in Yale’s Climate Connections.

As a consultant, Sara has worked on more than a dozen educational apps and television shows. She has contributed to successful RFP responses for online games, including Sesame Street’s Go Green (PBS KIDS) and Cyberchase’s Duck Dodge (PBS KIDS). In 2017, Sara co-produced “When I Grow Up!”, a show about different types of jobs that use science, technology, engineering, and math for TVOKids.

In 2022, Sara was invited to present at the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Design & Discover Forum on Climate Science, Children, and the Media. Recently, as a consultant for the Aspen Institute’s This is Planet Ed initiative, she conducted research and co-authored a report exposing the urgent need for climate change coverage in children’s media. Her work has also appeared in the Association of Science and Technology Centers' Dimensions, Yale’s Climate Connections, and the Coalition of Museums for Climate Justice Blog.
